In 1996, Sean Perry combined his work in fine carpentry with a reverence for the craftsmanship in historic homes, and formed a company around it.

He knew from the outset that his career as a general contractor would be renovation and remodeling, so he began assembling a crew of long-term team members. The project list has since come to cover a full range of remodels and additions, from older homes to modern ones, and that part has not changed.

Whatever the project, you can depend on a thorough, no-surprises estimating process, solid communication about budget and timeline from beginning through completion, and award-winning quality and integrity of construction.

    Started out at a fine furniture restoration company, then founded Saddle Hill Furniture Restoration, named for a site on his grandfather’s dairy farm in East Tennessee.

    Guides clients through the selection process. Working at Disney taught her that anything is possible, and to find joy in the details.
  • Zach BoyeLead Carpenter
    More than 30 years of experience. A Nebraska native who came to Asheville after eight years in Portland, Oregon.
  • Jackey BradburyLead Carpenter
    With the company since 2016, and a trusted subcontractor for years before that. Brings more than 20 years in grading, excavation and concrete work.
  • Pat ClementsOffice Manager
    Grew up in the mountains of upstate New York in a construction family. Her career in administrative support has spanned higher education, early education nonprofits and engineering.

    A sculptor and glass artist, with a bachelor’s degree in sculpture from Virginia Commonwealth University and a master’s in spatial arts from San Jose State University.

    More than 13 years of construction experience, mostly in fine residential remodeling, and a standing appetite for tricky trim details.

    A Certified Public Accountant with a Master of Business Administration from Western Carolina University and more than 20 years in management and accounting.

    Studied construction management at Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College and joined the team immediately after graduation.

    Involved in the renovations of many iconic Asheville places, including Zambra, Doc Chey’s and the North Asheville Library.

Intake

A focused phone conversation to discuss your goals, desired timeframe and target investment, to determine whether The Hands of Sean Perry is a good fit for you and your project.

Ballpark Estimate and Design Consult

After the on-site meeting we prepare an initial ballpark estimate. Our design team then meets with you at the office, or virtually, to explore the scope of the project and provide a reasonable estimate to accomplish your design goals. We listen to your feedback on how to refine the plan.

Refinement of Budget and Construction Plan

We refine the scope and produce the detailed project budget. Working with our design team or your architect, the building plans are developed and presented for your review, including the selection of fixtures, finishes and materials. Once selections are made and the final budget is produced, the contract is signed and a start date scheduled.

Construction

We oversee all aspects, from permitting to finished product, and keep you informed every step of the way. The construction site is sealed off from the rest of the space and kept clean, to minimize disturbances to you, your family and your neighbors.

Completion

We wrap up all end-of-project details and obtain inspections. Now you can enjoy your newly completed space.

And then we will miss each other tremendously. This is a good thing.
